About Sporophila ruficollis Cabanis, 1851
The dark-throated seedeater, scientifically known as Sporophila ruficollis, is a bird species that belongs to the family Thraupidae; it was previously classified under the family Emberizidae. This species can be found in Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Paraguay, and Uruguay, and it still occurs at Quebrada de los Cuervos in Uruguay. Its natural habitats are dry savanna, as well as subtropical or tropical seasonally wet or flooded lowland grassland. Dark-throated seedeater populations are growing increasingly rare as a result of habitat loss.
