About Spodoptera cosmioides Walker, 1858

This species of moth has a wingspan ranging from about 38 to 42 mm, or 1.5 to 1.7 inches. Its type locality is Pará, Brazil. In 2002, Pogue examined voucher specimens of this species from the following countries: Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, French Guiana, Guyana, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Trinidad, and Venezuela. No host plants for Spodoptera cosmioides are currently listed in the HOSTS database maintained by the Natural History Museum, London. However, S. cosmioides and its closely related related species feed on a wide variety of herbaceous plants, and are considered pests of these plants, as noted by da Silva et al. in 2017.
