About Spinifex sericeus R.Br.
Spinifex sericeus R.Br. produces branched stolons and rhizomes that can reach 1 to 2 metres (3.3 to 6.6 ft) in length. Its leaves have a ligule formed as a rim of dense hairs, and the leaf blades are flat and covered in dense, silky hairs. The male inflorescence is an orange-brown terminal cluster of spiky racemes, with silky bracts growing beneath the cluster. At maturity, the female inflorescence detaches from the plant; it forms a globose seed head made of sessile racemes, reaching up to 20 cm in diameter, and becomes a tumbleweed.
