About Spilostethus rivularis (Germar, 1837)

The scientific name of this species is Spilostethus rivularis (Germar, 1837). Slater and Perry (1973) previously published descriptions of this species' egg and all immature instar life stages. Nymphs of Spilostethus rivularis have noticeable, distinct yellow-orange to orange base coloration, paired with brown striping. Adult individuals reach an approximate total length of 13 mm. The head, pronotum, and the hard regions of the hemelytra (the clavus and corium) are distinctly marked with alternating bars of rufous and greyish black. The scutellum is blackish in color, and the membranes of the hemelytra are chestnut brown.
