About Sphyraena afra Peters, 1844

Sphyraena afra, commonly called the Guinean barracuda, is a species of barracuda. It is found off the western coast of Africa, ranging from Senegal to Namibia. The species is not particularly common across the entire area of its range. Guinean barracudas are carnivorous, and their diet consists of fish and shrimp. They live on the continental shelf, and can be found in habitats ranging from lagoons and estuaries out to a maximum depth of 75 m (250 ft).
