The Guinean puffer, with the scientific name Sphoeroides marmoratus (Lowe, 1838), is a species belonging to the pufferfish family Tetraodontidae. This species is native to the eastern Atlantic, where its range extends from Portugal to Angola. It is also found in the island groups of Madeira, the Azores, Cape Verde, and the Canary Islands. In recent times, it has been recorded on rare separate occasions in the Alboran Sea, which is located in the western Mediterranean Sea.
