About Sphincterochila candidissima (Draparnaud, 1801)
This is a description of the shell of Sphincterochila candidissima (Draparnaud, 1801). The shell is subimperforate, globose, solid, and cretaceous. It has 5 rather flattened whorls; the upper whorls are carinate above the suture, and this carina becomes evanescent on the lower whorls. The final (last) whorl is deflected at its front end. The peristome is subpatulous and thickened on the inside. The shell width ranges from 16 to 25 mm. This species occurs in France, Italy, Malta, and other areas.
