About Sphaerodactylus argus Gosse, 1850

Sphaerodactylus argus Gosse, 1850, commonly called the ocellated gecko, the ocellated sphaero, and the stippled sphaero, is a species of lizard in the family Sphaerodactylidae. It is native to the Caribbean and nearby regions, and has two recognized subspecies. This species occurs in Jamaica, Cuba, adjacent islets, The Bahamas, San Andres and Providencia (Colombia), and the Yucatán Peninsula of Mexico. It is also found as an introduced species with well-established populations in the Florida Keys. Its preferred natural habitat is forest, ranging in elevation from sea level to 100 meters (330 feet). It is a climbing species that can also be found on walls and inside buildings. Sphaerodactylus argus is oviparous.
