Scientific name: Speiredonia mutabilis (Fabricius, 1794)

Adults of Speiredonia mutabilis have a wingspan of approximately 70–78 mm. They are blackish brown with a purplish tinge. The forewings feature wavy black sub-basal, antemedial, and medial lines. There is a spot in the cell, as well as a double wavy post-medial line that curves outward from vein 2 to the lower angle of the cell. An indistinct sinuous double sub-marginal line is also present on the forewings. The hindwings have a medial lunulate line and faint traces of a sinuous double sub-marginal line. The larvae of this species feed on Acacia species.
