About Sparassis spathulata (Schwein.) Fr.

Sparassis spathulata (Schwein.) Fr. produces a dome-shaped fruiting body that measures 10 to 40 centimeters (4 to 15 and 1/2 inches) wide. The fruiting body is made up of many pale lobes, which are typically unruffled and can be faintly zonate. This mushroom grows from a rooted stem. In terms of distribution and habitat, Sparassis spathulata occurs between eastern Texas and northeastern North America, and can be found from July to September. This species is a good edible mushroom.
