About Solidago rugosa Mill.
Solidago rugosa Mill. is an herbaceous perennial plant with rough leaves, that reaches up to 2 meters (6.6 feet) in height. Most of its leaves grow along the plant stems, called cauline leaves. A single individual can produce up to 50 stems, and each stem bears between 50 and 1500 yellow flower heads. Flowering occurs from late summer through fall. It can be told apart from the visually similar species Solidago ulmifolia by its creeping rhizomes and more abruptly shaped leaf bases. This species is cultivated as an ornamental plant for gardens. Its cultivar 'Fireworks' has received the Royal Horticultural Society's Award of Garden Merit.
