Solidago arguta Aiton is a tall, perennial plant that flowers in the fall. Its flowers are small and yellow, produced in clustered heads. This species can be told apart from other similar goldenrods by its characteristics: it has broad basal leaves that range from lightly hairy to hairless, and leaf size decreases progressively towards the top of the stem.
