About Solanum humile Lam.
Solanum humile Lam. is an annual herb that grows up to 70 cm tall, with slight to dense hair coverage across the plant. Its leaf blades are ovate, reaching up to 8 cm in length and 3โ6 cm in width, with edges that are either entire or shallowly lobed; leaf petioles can grow up to 4.5 cm long. Inflorescences hold clusters of 3 to 8 flowers each. The corolla is either white or may have a purple tinge. After flowering, the plant produces globular berries that measure 5โ9 mm in diameter, with a dull light red or orange-yellow color that varies by subspecies. Seeds are 1.7โ2.3 mm long and pale yellow. When compared to Solanum nigrum, aside from differences in fruit color, Solanum humile has moderately sized peduncles; in contrast, S. nigrum typically develops much longer peduncles relative to the length of its pedicels.
