Solanum dimidiatum Raf. is a plant species belonging to the Solanaceae family, with the common names western horsenettle, Torrey's nightshade, and robust horsenettle. It is native to the central United States, where it grows in many types of habitat, including disturbed areas. It is an introduced species and a noxious weed in California. This rhizomatous perennial herb produces an erect stem that can reach up to 80 centimeters in height. The stem is covered in yellow prickles and branched hairs. Its leaves can grow up to 15 centimeters long, with wavy to lobed edges that are sometimes toothed. The inflorescence is a branching cluster that holds several flowers. Each flower has a bell-shaped corolla 3 to 5 centimeters wide, which ranges in color from lavender to purple, or may be white. The five large yellow anthers are about one centimeter long. The fruit is a spherical yellow berry that can grow up to 3 centimeters wide.
