Smilax lasioneura, commonly called Blue Ridge carrionflower, is a North American flowering plant species that belongs to the greenbriar family. It has a widespread distribution across central Canada and the central United States, ranging from Ontario, Manitoba, and Saskatchewan in the north, all the way south to Texas, Louisiana, and Florida. This plant is an erect, branching herb that can reach up to 250 cm, or 5 feet, in height. It produces small, numerous flowers that are arranged in umbels. Its fruits are round berries, colored blue to nearly black.
