Smilax illinoensis, commonly known as the Illinois greenbrier, is a North American plant species that occurs only in the United States and Canada. It is native mainly to the Great Lakes Region, with a small number of additional populations located further south in Missouri and the Ohio Valley. This species is an upright, unbranched herb that grows up to 100 cm (39 inches) tall, and it has no prickles. It can be found growing in woods and thickets.
