About Sloanea woollsii F.Muell.

Sloanea woollsii F.Muell., commonly known as carabeen, is a very large single-stem rainforest tree. Mature individuals can reach 55 meters in height, with a trunk diameter of up to 250 cm. Prominent plank-like buttresses protrude from the tree's base, and these buttresses may sometimes grow as tall as 4 meters. Its crown is usually spreading and open. This species typically grows in areas that receive between 1300 and 1700 mm of annual rainfall, and prefers soil with pH ranging from 5 to 6.5 (slightly acidic to neutral). Sloanea woollsii is one of the common tree species found in Australian subtropical rainforests. It is a typical climax species that is long-lived, slow-growing, and shade tolerant, with a maximum recorded lifespan of up to 800 years.
