Siphonodon australis Benth. grows as a tree that reaches up to 30 meters in height. Its leaves measure 4.5 to 12 centimeters long by 2.5 to 5 centimeters wide. Small white flowers are arranged in 1 to 3-flowered inflorescences that are 10 to 20 millimeters long. The hard yellow fruits of this species are roughly 2.5 to 4 centimeters long, and contain seeds that measure 2.5 to 6 millimeters. This species is distributed in north-eastern and south-eastern Queensland, with its range extending into north-eastern New South Wales. It grows in drier rainforest and monsoon forest, occurring between sea level and an elevation of 900 meters.
