Simpsonanthus jonesii is an annual herb that grows mostly upright or erect, reaching a maximum height of close to 40 centimeters. The entire plant has a hairy texture, with hairs that are rough, sharp, and bristly. Its leaves are arranged alternately along the stem, and grow up to 10 centimeters long. The inflorescence consists of a series of tiny white flowers, each 1 to 3 millimeters wide. The fruit it produces is a tiny bumpy nutlet, which develops in clusters of 3 or 4.
