Simoselaps bertholdi, first described by Jan in 1859, reaches an average total length of 30 centimeters (12 inches) when fully grown, including its tail. This species has a wide geographic distribution across arid inland areas of Australia. Its range extends from central and western South Australia and the southwestern region of the Northern Territory, westward across Western Australia all the way to the continent’s western coast. Simoselaps bertholdi reproduces via egg-laying, and it has an average clutch size of four eggs.
