About Silene taimyrensis (Tolm.) Bocquet
Silene taimyrensis (Tolm.) Bocquet is native to Alaska (U.S.) and the Canadian territories of Yukon and British Columbia. In its native range, it occurs at elevations up to 1500 meters, where it grows in exposed subalpine to alpine sites with poor, rocky to sandy soils. In its native habitat, this plant reaches a maximum height of 40 cm; when grown in gardens, it can grow twice as tall as this. It produces small white to light pink flowers arranged in terminal clusters. Silene taimyrensis has been identified in the fossil record dating to the Late Pleistocene.
