About Silene scouleri Hook.

Silene scouleri Hook. is a perennial herb that grows one or more erect stems from a woody, branching caudex. The stem is typically unbranched (simple), which gives the plant its common name. Its inflorescence can bear few to many flowers arranged in either a dense or open cluster. Each flower has a tubular or bell-shaped calyx formed from fused sepals, marked with prominent purple or green veins. Petals are white, sometimes with a greenish or pinkish tint, or entirely solid pink. Petals may have between two and four lobes, which can be wide or narrow, and rounded or pointed.
