The species is native to Cyprus, Egypt, Iran, Iraq, Italy, Lebanon, Syria, Morocco, Portugal, Spain, Tunisia, the countries that formerly made up Yugoslavia, and Western Sahara. Among winter weeds in Egypt, this species is rare.
