Silene otites (L.) Wibel, commonly known as Spanish catchfly, is a flowering plant species belonging to the genus Silene. This species is native to Europe and the Transcaucasus region, and has been introduced to Xinjiang, China. Silene otites adjusts the scent of its flowers to attract different pollinators: it draws mosquitoes and moths during the night, and attracts flies and bees during the day. It is a dioecious species, meaning individual plants are either male or female, with the two sexes growing on separate plants.
