About Sicarius tropicus (Mello-Leitão, 1936)

Sicarius tropicus is a six-eyed sand spider species belonging to the genus Sicarius. It is endemic to the caatinga habitat of Brazil in South America. Like other closely related spiders in its group, it produces venom. Only one medically significant bite from this species has ever been recorded; this bite caused dermonecrotic lesions in a 17-year-old boy.
