About Sicalis uropigyalis (d'Orbigny & Lafresnaye, 1837)

The bright-rumped yellow finch, with the scientific name Sicalis uropigyalis, is a bird species that belongs to the family Thraupidae. It is found in the Puna grassland region covering Peru, Bolivia, northern Chile, and northern Argentina. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical high-altitude grassland, as well as heavily degraded former forest. This species was formally described in 1837 by French naturalists Alcide d'Orbigny and Frédéric de Lafresnaye, based on a specimen collected in the Bolivian Andes. At the time of description, the authors gave it the original binomial name Emberiza uropigyalis.
