Shepherdia rotundifolia, commonly known as roundleaf buffaloberry or silverleaf, is an evergreen shrub in the oleaster family Elaeagnaceae. It typically reaches a height of 3 to 6 feet (1 to 2 meters). This species is endemic to the Colorado Plateau in the southwestern United States, meaning it grows nowhere else naturally. Its common name originates from the practice of western settlers, who used cooked berries from the plant to make a sauce to serve with cooked buffalo meat. It can be found growing in three main vegetation communities: mixed desert shrub, pinyon juniper woodland, and ponderosa pine forest. It grows at elevations up to 7,800 feet, which equals 2,400 meters.
