About Selaginella tamariscina (P.Beauv.) Spring
Selaginella tamariscina (P.Beauv.) Spring is a plant species belonging to the Selaginellaceae family. This species is endemic to China, India, Japan, Korea, the Philippines, Siberia (Russia), Taiwan, and northern Thailand. Originally described by Palisot de Beauvois under the name Stachygynandrum tamariscinum, this publication may have occurred in 1804 or 1805. In 1843, Antoine Frédéric Spring reclassified this species into the genus Selaginella. It is an evergreen perennial plant that grows up to 45 centimeters tall. It is commonly used as an herbal medicine, and has specifically been used to treat gout and hyperuricemia.
