About Selaginella involvens (Sw.) Spring

Selaginella tamariscina is a plant species belonging to the Selaginellaceae family. It is endemic to China, India, Japan, Korea, the Philippines, Siberia (Russia), Taiwan, and northern Thailand. The species was first described by Palisot de Beauvois, possibly either in 1804 or 1805, under the name Stachygynandrum tamariscinum. In 1843, Antoine Frédéric Spring transferred it to the genus Selaginella. It is an evergreen perennial plant that grows to a height of 45 cm. It is commonly used as an herbal medicine, and has been used to treat gout and hyperuricemia.
