About Segmentina nitida (O.F.Müller, 1774)
Segmentina nitida (O.F.Müller, 1774) has a shell that coils sinistrally and is nearly planispiral in shape. Its spire is deeply sunken, and the shell surface is glossy. The maximum diameter of the shell is around 7 mm. This species lives among aquatic water weeds in ponds and marsh drainage ditches, and it ranges from uncommon to rare in abundance. It has been recorded in the following regions: the Czech Republic (where it is classified as Vulnerable, VU), the British Isles (where it is included on the List of endangered species for the British Isles), England (part of Great Britain, where it is classified as Endangered, EN), Germany (where it is classified as endangered, or gefährdet), Latvia, the Netherlands, Poland, and Slovakia.
