About Sedum obtusatum subsp. boreale R.T.Clausen
This succulent plant, Sedum obtusatum subsp. boreale R.T.Clausen, grows basal rosettes of waxy leaves. Its leaves are oval or spoon-shaped, reaching up to 3 centimeters long, with smaller leaves growing higher up the stem. Leaf color ranges from green to blue-green, and may be red-tinged or entirely red. The inflorescence is an upright, sometimes flat-topped cluster that holds many flowers. The flowers have white petals that can be tinged with green, yellow, or orange, and the species typically blooms from May to June. While it is not an obligate host, this subspecies is known to be a beneficial organism for the Euptoieta claudia butterfly.
