Scytodes fusca Walckenaer, 1837 is a species of spider in the family Scytodidae, commonly called the dark common spitting spider. It is a cosmopolitan species that has been introduced to many regions across the world. This species was originally native to Central and southern America, and has been introduced to St. Helena, Europe, Africa, the Seychelles, India, Myanmar, Indonesia, China, Japan, and Hawaii. In South Africa, it has been recorded in six provinces, where it occurs at elevations from 16 to 1,618 meters above sea level. The species is frequently found inside houses. It is a nocturnal cursorial spider with a specialized prey capture method. Within South Africa, it has been sampled from the Fynbos, Grassland, Nama Karoo, Savanna, and Thicket biomes.
