About Scythris sinensis (Felder & Rogenhofer, 1875)

Scythris sinensis is a moth species with a wingspan ranging from 10 to 14 mm. Its forewings are blue-blackish in color, and its hindwings are dark fuscous. The larvae of this species feed on two plant species: goosefoot, Chenopodium album, and common orache, Atriplex patula. This moth is originally known from the Far East, and has been recorded in eastern Europe in recent years, most likely as an accidental introduction. It can also be found in central Russia, southern Siberia, and Pennsylvania in North America. In Great Britain, the moth is only known from two specimens discovered in a shop in Kent in 1980; these specimens were most likely accidentally imported.
