It is a species of true limpet, which is a marine gastropod mollusk that belongs to the family Patellidae. This species is distributed across Australian coastal waters. Its recorded range extends from south-east Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, Tasmania, and South Australia, all the way through to Shark Bay in Western Australia.
