About Scrophularia canina subsp. hoppii (W.D.J.Koch) P.Fourn.
This taxon, Scrophularia canina subsp. hoppii, is a subspecies of Scrophularia canina. Scrophularia canina plants are self-supporting herbaceous perennials. They have simple, broad leaves and square stems. Their small two-lipped flowers grow in loose terminal clusters. Mature individual plants reach up to 0.36 meters (1 foot 2 inches) in height. Scrophularia canina is distributed across most of southern and central Europe, as well as in north Africa. Seed dispersal for this plant is influenced by wind gusts and the plant’s own structure. This taxon has been used in a phytoremediation experiment, where it proved to be a more efficient lead accumulator than Pistacia lentiscus.
