About Scopula ornata (Scopoli, 1763)

Scopula ornata, commonly known as the lace border, is a species of moth belonging to the family Geometridae. This species was first formally described by Giovanni Antonio Scopoli, in his 1763 work Entomologia Carniolica. It can be found in Europe, North Africa, and the Near East. The wingspan of this moth ranges from 21 to 24 millimetres, which is 0.83 to 0.94 inches. Adult moths are active in flight during May and June, and there is a second flight period from late July to September. The larvae of this species feed on a variety of herbaceous plants. Their primary host plant is Thymus, and they also feed on Achillea, Mentha, Origanum, Rumex, Taraxacum, and Veronica.
