Sciota virgatella, commonly known as the black-spotted leafroller moth, is a species of snout moth belonging to the genus Sciota. This species was first described by James Brackenridge Clemens in 1860. It is native to North America, and has been recorded in the following locations: Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Ontario, Pennsylvania, Quebec, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, and West Virginia. The wingspan of adult Sciota virgatella ranges from 22 to 26 mm. Adult moths can be seen in flight between February and September each year.
