Scinax acuminatus is a species of frog belonging to the family Hylidae. It has been confirmed to occur in Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, and Paraguay, and may also be found in Uruguay. Its natural habitats include moist savanna, subtropical or tropical moist shrubland, subtropical or tropical seasonally wet or flooded lowland grassland, freshwater lakes, intermittent freshwater lakes, freshwater marshes, intermittent freshwater marshes, pastureland, rural gardens, heavily degraded former forest, ponds, and canals and ditches. This species breeds in bodies of water. While it faces potential future threats from habitat loss, its current overall population is fairly stable, as the species adapts well to human encroachment and development.
