About Schreckensteinia festaliella (Hübner, 1919)
This moth species, Schreckensteinia festaliella, has a wingspan of 10–12 mm. Its head is pale metallic bronzy-ochreous. The forewings are pale shining ochreous, with the base and costa suffused with fuscous. A dark fuscous streak runs from the base along the fold to the tornus, and continues along the termen nearly to the apex. There is also a dark fuscous median longitudinal streak that extends from before one-third of the disc to the costa close before the apex; this streak is enlarged into a spot at two-fifths of its length, which often forms a fascia when combined with the dark costal and tornal suffusion. The hindwings are dark grey. Mature larvae are pale green, with a darker dorsal line; the larval head and the second thoracic plate are green. This species is native to the Palearctic realm. It has been introduced to North America, where it is now widespread across an area ranging from California and Alberta to Quebec and the northeastern United States.
