Schoenus maschalinus, commonly known as the dwarf bog-rush, is a species of sedge native to Australia, New Zealand, and Malesia. It is a small, creeping herb that resembles grass, and it often forms mats. Its stems grow between 10 and 20 centimeters in length, and its leaves are usually less than 1 millimeter wide. This plant mostly grows in moist swampy areas located not far from the coast. The specific epithet "maschalinus" comes from Greek, and it refers to the presence of axils, literally meaning "armpits".
