Schoenocaulon texanum Scheele, commonly known as Texas feathershank, is a species of flowering plant that belongs to the bunchflower family, Melanthiaceae. This species is native to North America. Its distribution includes the Mexican states of Chihuahua, Coahuila, Durango, and San Luis Potosí, as well as the U.S. states of New Mexico and Texas. Its natural habitat consists of dry, calcareous, rocky grasslands and open scrubby woodlands. Schoenocaulon texanum is an herbaceous bulbous perennial plant. It has basal, grass-like leaves, and its inflorescence forms a long, compact spike. It typically flowers during late spring and early summer, though rainfall can trigger additional flowering later in the season.
