Schismus arabicus Nees is a grass species commonly called Arabian schismus. It is native to northern Africa and temperate Asia, and it has also been introduced as an introduced species in the southwestern United States. This species can grow in many types of habitat, including disturbed areas. It is an annual grass, with stems that reach up to 16 centimeters in length and lined with threadlike leaves. It produces a short inflorescence that holds spikelets less than one centimeter long.
