About Schinia arcigera Guenée, 1852

Schinia arcigera, commonly known as the arcigera flower moth, is a moth species belonging to the family Noctuidae. This species was first formally described by Achille Guenée in 1852. It is distributed across North America, ranging from Nova Scotia in the northeast to Florida in the southeast, extending west to Arizona and Idaho, and north to Saskatchewan. The wingspan of adult moths measures 22 to 25 millimeters. Adults are active on wing from July through September in the northeastern part of its range, and from August through October in southern New Jersey. The larvae of this species feed on Symphyotrichum laeve, Symphyotrichum puniceum, Symphyotrichum ericoides, and Psilactis tenuis.
