About Saxifraga tridactylites L.

Saxifraga tridactylites, commonly called rue-leaved saxifrage or "nailwort", is a plant species that belongs to the family Saxifragaceae. This plant is a winter-annual herb, with distinctive fleshy leaves that have three lobes and red stems. Stems, leaves, and sepals of the rue-leaved saxifrage are all covered in numerous sticky glands. In Great Britain, this species grows in dry open habitats. These habitats include sand dune grassland, sandy banks, verges, solution hollows on limestone pavement, rock ledges, cliffs, screes, and old sand and gravel pits. It is also very common in urban environments, where it can be found growing on mortared walls, pavements, churchyards, car parks, and railway tracks. It grows most often on base-rich substrates, and frequently occurs in skeletal soils or on areas that are nearly bare rock.
