About Saxifraga aizoides L.

Saxifraga aizoides L. is an evergreen perennial plant. It branches at or below ground level, and grows between 2 and 10 centimetres (0.79 to 3.94 inches) tall. It spreads via short rhizomes, forming mats that make up small colonies. Its flowers have five sepals and five petals, and are yellow-green in color. This species grows best in cold, moist, well-draining environments with neutral to basic bedrock, gravel, sand, or shale cliffs. It can be found in North America, including Alaska, all of Canada, the Great Lakes region, and Greenland. It also grows in Europe, including the Tatra Mountains, the Alps, and Svalbard. It is classified as a listed threatened species in New York state.
