About Satyrium behrii (W.H.Edwards, 1870)

Satyrium behrii, commonly known as Behr's hairstreak, is a butterfly species belonging to the family Lycaenidae. This butterfly is distributed in western North America, ranging from western Texas north and west through New Mexico, Arizona, and southern California to British Columbia. The wingspan of adult Behr's hairstreak measures 24–32 mm. Adults have one generation per year and are active on the wing from June to July. This species inhabits dry slopes and canyons. Adult butterflies feed on flower nectar, while the caterpillar larvae feed on the leaves of Purshia tridentata, Purshia glandulosa, and Cercocarpus montanus.
