About Sargocentron suborbitale (Gill, 1863)

Sargocentron suborbitale, commonly called the tinsel squirrelfish, is a species of squirrelfish in the genus Sargocentron. This species is distributed in the East Pacific Ocean, ranging from the Gulf of California to Ecuador, and also occurs around the Galapagos Islands. Adult tinsel squirrelfish hide in small caves or rock crevices during the day. At night, they leave their shelters to hunt and feed on small crustaceans in the intertidal zone. This species reproduces via oviparity.
