About Sarcopteryx stipata (F.Muell.) Radlk.
Sarcopteryx stipata (F.Muell.) Radlk. is most commonly observed as a small tree reaching up to 10 metres in height. However, one individual growing at Griers Scrub in Nightcap National Park has been recorded at 40 metres tall, with a trunk diameter of 75 cm (30 in). The base of larger specimens of this species is somewhat flanged. The bark is hard, grey in colour, and is often marked by irregular features including wrinkles, horizontal bands, and bumps. Small branches are thick and longitudinally ridged, and covered in soft brown hairs. Brown hairs are present on many other parts of the plant as well.
