About Sapyga louisi
Sapyga louisi can be distinguished from closely related species by its small body size and the yellow markings present on its body. The inner edges of its eyes (inner orbits) have yellow markings extending from the mandibles to almost the top margin of the eye. Yellow markings on the thorax include a narrow, narrowly interrupted band along the anterior margin, plus lateral spots on the rear portion of the pronotum, a pair of spots on the scutellum, and a band on the postscutellum. The propodeum has one yellow spot on each of its two sides. On the abdomen, a broad, uniformly thick yellow band sits on the second segment, and lateral yellow spots are present on each subsequent segment, with each spot narrowing toward the middle of the body. Lateral yellow spots are also found on sternites 2 through 4. Males differ from females by having reduced yellow markings: they lack the yellow spots on the lateral margins of the pronotum, the spots on the scutellum, and the spots on sternites 3 and 4.
