Scientific name: Sanicula odorata (Raf.) Pryer & Phillippe. Identifying this species among other Sanicula found in eastern North America can be difficult. This species can be distinguished from others by the following combination of traits. Its leaves are usually divided into 5 leaflets, and occasionally divided into 7 leaflets. Its styles are much longer than the calyx. Each umbellet can have up to 12 to 25 stamens. Its flowers and anthers are yellowish-green, and its petals are much longer than its sepals.
